Fun Factoids: Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan grew up in Farmville, VA. In the mid-1980s, he attended elementary school at J.P. Wynne Campus School, a laboratory school that was part of Longwood University. Longwood has remained a part of his life—his mother was a teacher at the Wynne school when they lived there—and he took some time to record a 175th anniversary message for the university.
“Longwood meant a lot to me,” says Gilligan. “In fact, if you watch Breaking Bad very closely you will notice that Walter White teaches high school at J.P. Wynne, which is obviously a shout out to the campus school.”
